So I'm sitting watching tv,on comes verizons new commercial. Some business exec is planning out his day with his secretary; funny pics to wife, texting son while he's at recess, sending funny emails out all afternoon, oh and budget meeting at 4. He stares at her and she offers to reschedule budget meeting for some other day.
Now is it just me or does this seem like the wrong type of commercial to air these days? In light of our economy falling apart at the seams.People losing jobs left and right, and some 700 BILLION of our tax dollars going to bail out the greedy banks of their own hubris. All the while we have CEO's of those same failing banks pocketing severance packages of 19 Million dollars for 3 WEEKS of work(http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/t
history>1=33009). We are shown some company exec in a commercial playing on his cell phone all day while putting off a budget meeting? Where the hell have these people been the last few weeks? To think that this is going to sell your product while hundreds of thousands of people are losing jobs, homes and/or wondering wether they can afford food AND heat their homes this winter is freakin ridiculous. You got to wonder that maybe someone at Verizonwireless or the ad agency that runs those ad's might take a step back and decide, maybe now might not be such a good idea for this one. Think!, the majority of the American people might be a bit angry and resentful towards someone portraying lazy company execs, and that might not sell a few new cell phone contracts!?
Maybe it's just me, but the more I see the stupidity and recklessness that brought us to this present crisis protrayed in a supposedly mildly humerous commercial. Just rubs me the wrong way.
